| Bette Davis and Olivia de Havilland |
is a melodrama of family, not particularly original plot, a family gone out of favor and openly frigate from relatives (1929 has just passed, let us remember) in which a wicked sister (Bette Davis, needless to say), scrub the other husband and flees the altar with him giving up his betrothed, and an uncle (the one that has cheated the father) in love with her and her vitality that has always covered with flaws and gifts.
course, the love will last little fugitive until the suicide of her husband and return to the fold in which a sister submissive incredibly welcoming and forgiving. But there's more: the attempt to rifregare to his sister's new boyfriend (and former husband-to-be dumped at the altar) and a tragic car accident and is killed a little girl. The Our protagonist treacherous course of delivering tries to blame the black son of a maid's life, a great student and aspiring lawyer, and Virginia in the early 40's at fault is charged blindly, were it not that the good sister finds out the truth and with the new boyfriend upsets the cynical protagonist basically handing it to the police but in fact his death.
is a melodrama is not too original, not even this, but well built (although it has not been able to fully appreciate the intensity due to the projection interrupted several times due to technical problems), with Bette Davis dropped a lot in its role as a bad and other stakeholders up to much.
