“Quando abbiamo visto che nel 2019 una delle due capitali europee spettava all’Italia, da una serie di incontri a livello di Assessori al Comune di Torino e della Provincia di Torino, Sindaco e Presidente della Provincia è stata ipotizzata l’idea della candidatura. La città di Torino aveva già valutato questa opportunità a livello di Commissione cultura del Consiglio comunale, e l’Assessore provinciale Ugo Perone ha per così dire preso l’abbrivio da una serie di stimoli che arrivavano da associazioni e intellettuali della città. Inoltre, nell’interpretazione dell’Unione Europea si sta finalmente uscendo da una visione esclusivamente cittadina, metropolitana, per coinvolgere territori più o meno vasti. Per questo abbiamo deciso di coinvolgere la Provincia e abbiamo esteso la proposta alla Regione, che deve ancora dirci se aderirà.”
