| Last Chestnuts |
A woman goes to a bus stop and suddenly it seems lost but looking for something. Only gradually realizes that something is the son Mitsuo, which in that country had a companion, Mie, and met people and gathered chestnuts. Only gradually, however, realizes that the child is no longer alive and that she herself is terminally ill with cancer. Between a cigarette and the other we see a Japan - even rural - caught between tradition and modernity, people know that even for a short stretch of life seem to accompany the woman in his quest, which culminates in the final scene, a escape without solution, a search for answers can not be found, and the embrace of the virtual eyes of another woman, another mother, who may know and maybe understand. Last
Chestnuts film is not easy, maybe a little 'slow, but intense.
