Tridacna Gigas In The Philippines

Torino Film Festival - Ed Gass -Donnelly, Small Town Murder Songs, 2010

This film set in the Canadian province of Ontario begins and ends, like the title says, with music that gets inside you. In the course of the film in reality, you forget, the music, waiting for something to happen in meaningful and significant that goes beyond any one episode of a cop and feed on some psychological mood more intense. Because if the hero is a good actor, he seems to take place around any real plot (the murder is clear almost immediately, with no particular excitement or a particular building "backward" events). In an episode past that seems to mark the events are mentioned only in an allusive and insignificant, there is basically nothing that will keep you glued to the chair. And when the film you find yourself thinking "OK, so what?" Is not a good sign. It means that if there was room in a remote, change the channel.

have bothered the Coen brothers for this movie, but it has nothing of the psychological tension and existential tale of life at certain latitudes that the Coens know (masterfully, it's true) paint.
